Abe Sapien - First attempt at using Copic Markers!
After much contemplation, dithering, excitement and investigation, I recently decided to invest some Ciao Copic Markers!
I have given myself this week to properly try them out, experiment with colour and practise a few techniques, and hopefully produce a few pretty pictures along the way! All of which I'll share with you on here!
So the subject of my first attempt at using copics is Abe Sapien, from Dark Horse's Hellboy and B.P.R.D!

Grandville - Bete Noir fan art
Oh wow... it's been a while since I've posted anything up on here hasn't it!?
*blows away dust and cobwebs* ... poor old Blog!
Sorry about that guys! I've totally got a good reason for the radio silence though! Been busy beavering away at Doctor Who: Impossible Crossing issue 2, and another totally awesome comic project with writer, Matt Gibbs (which I am DYING to show you all stuff from, but I can't... not yet...)
Anyway, I plan on making more regular posts on here showing sneak peeks at panels from DW:IC #2 and progress updates, plus anything else fun I get up to! So please don't give up on it yet!
For now though, let me leave you with this bit of Grandville: Bete Noir fan art I did a while back. I got Bete Noir for christmas and just had to draw Billie on that awesome Steampunk motorbike!
Grandville written and illustrated by Bryan Talbot. Check out http://www.bryan-talbot.com for the latest news and events, and also glimpse this bit of fan art on the site too!!

"... make it a Fishnets Double!"
Me: I'm sorry Lee, your christmas prezzie is gonna be kinda late, sooooo busy at the moment... By the way d'you know of any good pens for inking? I want to try a new technique for my comic projects.
Lee: Thats okay, try these dip pens *shares link* they should be good for drawing fishnets!! ;) *hint hint*
Me: Cheers Lee, I'll break them in by using them to draw your prezzie... if you don't mind waiting a lil longer!?
Lee: I can wait... but maybe make it a Fishnets Double!?! :D
So I did!
Black Canary and Zatanna drawn as a (very belated) christmas present for the lovely Lee Grice!

I used a combination of dip ink pens and brush pens to in this image. I plan on experimenting with integrating a bolder inked outline with my usual textured digital painting style for my current cmic projects: Alex's Doctor Who comic and the top secret project with Matt Gibbs! Playing around with the pens by drawing Lee's present gave me a chance to get a feel for them... and create something pretty for him too!! :)

Another Sugar Glider pic...
Yeah, I kinda drew another one...
Inspired by a Batgirl pose this time. I could draw Susie mimicking Bat-poses all day, it's so much fun! :D
Sugar Glider
Let me introduce you to a Small Press heroine with Big ambition!
Susie Sullivan is just your average teenager from Newcastle. She goes to college, does sports and fights crime in her spare time! She is Sugar Glider!
Sugar Glider is another comic I've been asked to illustrate for, the ongoing series written by Daniel Clifford and illustrated by Gary Bainbridge has since spawned a small anthology collection exploring the untold stories of the characters who have appeared (and have yet to appear) in the main story arch.
I have been asked to draw for one of these stories to be collected into a second anthology collection: Sugar Glider Stories 2!

Nibblers, Grazers and Thieves!
Nibblers, Grazers and Thieves, the three Bakery Fiends!
Nibblers munch a bit and leave the rest on the shelf...
Grazers eat the whole thing and walk off...
Thieves make off with a couple bags!

But none are a match for the vigilant Baker!
Inspired yesterday by talks in work of what really goes on in the Bakery!

Autumnal Showers

This doodle was inspired by my wooded path sprint in the rain to the bus station in Wells last saturday.
Apologies for not posting anything for ages, I have been rather caught up with all those boring grown up necessities of life. Working full time at my day job now that university has finished and hunting for a new place to live has kinda taken up most of my time for the past month.
My boyfriend and I are currently going through the motions of applying for a flat, we're awaiting the results of our credit checks and the landlords decision. Fingers crossed we get the place!!
So I may hopefully be able to settle into a proper routine of work and art and make my posts on here more regular again, once those boring necessities have settled down!

Sky Giant

This rather threatening landscape was inspired from our drive home from Exeter last Thursday. All around us there were huge dark clouds building up and massive storms brewing, we seemed to be driving in the wake of it as all around the countryside bore signs of heavy rain and strong wind, though we never got caught in it!
The storm clouds were piling up so high it just made me wonder how tall they actually were!
